Description:

Airbnb, the world’s leading community-driven hospitality company, is seeking an experienced Localization Manager for Canada to lead localization efforts and strategy across the Canadian market. This remote role offers an opportunity to help shape Airbnb’s local presence while ensuring the company’s global mission of “belonging anywhere” resonates authentically with Canadian audiences.

The Localization Manager will be instrumental in crafting language strategies, localizing marketing and product content, and collaborating with key internal and external partners. The position demands deep cultural understanding, strong project management, and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences through language and culture adaptation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead localization and cultural adaptation strategies for Airbnb’s Canadian market.

  • Partner closely with local and global teams, including Marketing, Legal, Policy, and Operations, to align localization goals with business objectives.

  • Drive the localization of Airbnb’s core product naming, creative copy, and user-facing content to ensure natural, native-quality experiences for Canadian users.

  • Provide linguistic and cultural expertise to inform strategy, ensuring localized initiatives support international growth.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve language quality, translation processes, and cultural accuracy.

  • Assess vendor performance metrics, manage translation quality assurance, and ensure alignment with Airbnb’s brand tone and style.

  • Develop linguistic and cultural standards, glossaries, and guidelines to ensure consistency across all touchpoints.

  • Conduct research and collaborate with Consumer Insights teams to understand user expectations and cultural nuances.

  • Own the strategic roadmap for localization excellence across platforms.

  • Support copywriting for marketing campaigns to enhance local engagement.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in product localization, including ownership of localization strategy and management of multilingual launches.

  • Fluency in English and native-level proficiency in Canadian French is mandatory.

  • Strong background in market research, data analysis, and business strategy formulation.

  • Proven ability to lead projects independently while managing diverse stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience in managing vendors and localization QA processes.

  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution.

  • Must reside in one of the following provinces: Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, or Saskatchewan.
