The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join its healthcare team in Victoria, BC. For over 130 years, The Salvation Army has been serving individuals and families in need, providing essential support such as shelter, food, clothing, and social services, while remaining rooted in its mission of hope, service, dignity, and stewardship.

Reporting to the Registered Nurse/Clinical Care Coordinator and Director of Care, the Licensed Practical Nurse will play an important role in planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating holistic care for residents. Care delivery will be guided by the standards of practice set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC, current legislation, and organizational policies.

The LPN will provide nursing interventions to residents with stable and predictable health conditions, administer medications, and support daily living activities. This role requires strong collaboration with Registered Nurses, supervisors, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care and that safety protocols are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing services and interventions to residents with stable, predictable health needs.

  • Administer medications and monitor their effects in accordance with scope of practice.

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care.

  • Collaborate with RNs, supervisors, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

  • Provide health and safety information to residents and their families.

  • Participate in orientation of new employees and share clinical knowledge with peers.

  • Demonstrate and provide guidance on clinical tasks to others as needed.

  • Adhere to workplace safety standards, including infection control, transfers, lifts, fire safety, and OH&S protocols.

  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors to support the care environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.

  • Current full practicing license with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CPLBC).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with others.

  • Competence in using healthcare-related computer software and equipment.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively while meeting deadlines.

  • Physically capable of performing the duties required, including resident transfers and handling equipment.

  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks (including The Salvation Army Abuse Registry and criminal background checks).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly wage: $32.84 – $37.10, with a maximum of $41.35 depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

  • Placement in the range will be determined by market conditions, internal equity, and candidate suitability.
