Licensed Practical Nurse

Description:

The Salvation Army is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join their team at Grace Manor in Edmonton, AB. The LPN will play a key role in delivering compassionate and competent nursing care within a residential care setting, particularly for mental health and geriatric residents. This role includes assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation, and team leadership to ensure a high standard of resident care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and ongoing nursing assessments for residents.

• Collect, document, and report health information to identify needs and monitor changes in health status.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

• Assist residents with daily living activities and provide evidence-based nursing interventions.

• Act as a team leader, supervising Health Care Aides and ensuring safe, efficient care delivery.

• Respond to emergencies and make recommendations for changes to treatment plans.

• Participate in discharge planning, staff training, and research initiatives.

• Uphold occupational health and safety standards and report hazards or incidents promptly.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse Program.

• Active registration with CLPNA and annual proof of renewal.

• Current First Aid & CPR certification.

• Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention preferred.

• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required.

• Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract preferred.

• Strong communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

• Ability to handle high-pressure situations including exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and occasional aggressive behavior.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily within residential care facilities.

• Shift work, occasional overtime, and on-call availability required.

• Physical demands include lifting, twisting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
