Description:

We are looking for an Intern to join our Global Legal team supporting our team members in North America who oversee the North America operations, compliance and privacy, digital technology, intellectual property, sustainability and mergers and acquisitions. This position is available for a 12-week period starting in May 2025 and will be based out of our global headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Legal Intern to support a range of initiatives. This role offers hands-on exposure to legal work within our company’s core business and our specialized teams in compliance, privacy, digital technology, intellectual property, sustainability and mergers and acquisitions, providing a well-rounded in-house legal experience within a global organization.

This position will work a hybrid schedule, with three days a week in the Toronto, Ontario office.

What You’ll Be Doing.
 

  • Assist in reviewing and drafting contracts across various business units (e.g., procurement, agriculture, sales, marketing)
  • Research and analyze changes in laws and regulations impacting the business
  • Prepare legal templates, reference materials, and internal guidance documents
  • Support corporate governance activities and management of the company’s global structure
  • Assist in the development and coordination of workshops and training materials
  • Create innovative communications to explain legal and compliance concepts (e.g., videos, podcasts, quizzes, guides, checklists, and lunch-and-learn sessions)
  • Develop and manage registries using tools such as PowerApps and Microsoft Forms e.g., gifts and entertainment, trade associations.
     

What You’ll Need To Be Successful.
 

  • Currently enrolled in a JD program at an accredited law school, preferably in the first or second year
  • Display a strong academic record
  • Interest in in-house corporate legal work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • A professional, detail-oriented, and honest work ethic, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools; experience with PowerApps and Microsoft Forms is an asset.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a global food business — and a passion for French fries is appreciated!
