Steinmetz Lawyers is a busy personal injury firm seeking an experienced legal assistant to join a dedicated and friendly team. The firm is expanding its personal injury practice, and the ideal candidate will help ensure an efficient and organized work environment to support the managing lawyer and his clerks. Role Overview: The Legal Assistant will support the managing lawyer and the team in a fast-paced and growing personal injury practice. The role requires excellent multitasking, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while managing an extremely busy calendar.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the lawyer’s calendar, including scheduling client meetings, examinations, mediations, trials, pre-trials, and other relevant tasks.

  • Coordinate various calendar entries, including booking services, arranging virtual setups, confirming attendances, and providing necessary materials.

  • Handle general correspondence related to client productions and calendar entries.

  • Serve documents such as Affidavit of Documents and Schedule "A" productions.

  • Assemble and serve records/briefs, including motions, mediations, medical records, pre-trials, and productions.

  • Communicate with clients to provide updates and ensure smooth coordination.

  • Maintain and organize client files for easy access and management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant in personal injury and/or insurance defence, or a comparable role.

  • Excellent multitasking, proof-reading, and organizational skills.

  • Strong time management abilities, with experience managing a busy calendar.

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and within a team environment.

  • Familiarity with Primafact, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel), and other online document services (Google, One Drive).

  • Proficiency in PC Law, Secure Docs, JSO Portal, Case Center (formerly Caselines), and similar tools is an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • Previous experience in personal injury or insurance defence is highly preferred.
