Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience performing clerical or administrative support duties within a legal environment including working with various types of legal documents, data entry, file management, and photocopying. A combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong written communication skills with experience drafting, proofreading, editing and/or formatting legal correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and effectively manage tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully liaise with various legal staff and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems


Desired:

  • Experience entering data into a specialized software system/database
  • Formal education in a legal field

 

Duties:
The Administrative Assistant reports to the Legal Section of the Manitoba Securities Commission, the incumbent provides senior secretarial and administrative services to the Legal Counsel and other professional staff as required. The position is required to ensure adequate administrative support with respect to the processing of applications made to the Commission and matters related to the prosecutions and hearings conducted by the Commission.
