Legal Analyst

 

Description:

Invesco Canada, a leading global asset management firm, is seeking a Legal Analyst to join its legal operations team in Charlottetown, PE. This role involves working closely with department attorneys and paralegals to manage legal processes, regulatory filings, corporate governance tasks, and board-related documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a proactive approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and precision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents including registration statements, proxy statements, and regulatory filings for mutual funds and ETFs.

  • Draft disclosure-related press releases and coordinate with media relations.

  • Conduct legal research and review reports related to legal and regulatory matters.

  • Prepare materials for board meetings, including reports, memoranda, and corporate resolutions.

  • Attend board meetings, take minutes, and ensure proper documentation and approvals.

  • Assist in company secretarial duties, maintain corporate records, and produce reports.

  • Handle communications with internal departments and external partners on behalf of attorneys.

  • Coordinate shareholder meetings and manage related documentation.

  • Support subpoenas, litigation requests, and non-routine legal projects as required.

  • Review and process invoices for accuracy and approval.


Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in financial services or a legal setting preferred.

  • General knowledge of federal securities laws, SEC filings, and the Investment Company Act of 1940 (or ability to learn).

  • Familiarity with mutual fund operations and corporate governance is a plus.

  • Strong grammar, proofreading, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage detailed information, and work under deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Adobe); experience with document management systems preferred.

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to handle confidential matters professionally.
