Description:
As a talented and experienced character artist, you will guide the visual development of characters across our game universe, ensuring that each model aligns with our artistic vision and narrative tone. You will mentor team members, oversee production pipelines, and work closely with concept artists and animators to bring characters to life.
This is a remote position. You will need a PC workstation and your own software, workspace, and toolset.
Responsibilities
- Lead the character art team, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across all deliverables.
- Translate concept art into fully realized characters and creatures, staying true to the narrative and gameplay needs.
- Review, critique, and provide constructive feedback on team assets.
- Help establish workflows, standards, and best practices for modeling, texturing, and asset integration.
- Collaborate with other department leads to ensure seamless integration across disciplines.
- Identify risks and bottlenecks in the character pipeline and proactively solve problems.
Key Duties
- Create visually compelling low- and high-poly characters, optimizing for performance without sacrificing visual fidelity.
- Provide clear direction to artists and support them in task prioritization and technical development.
- Model characters and creatures from scratch using industry-standard tools like ZBrush, Maya/Blender, and Substance Painter.
- Ensure character models meet animation and rigging requirements for use in Unreal Engine.
- Uphold and advance the artistic quality of our characters through every stage of production.

Qualifications
- 3 to 5+ years of professional experience in character modeling is preferred.
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience in a game production environment.
- A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating both artistic and technical expertise.
- No formal degree required—skill and experience speak louder.
