Description:
The Centre d’action bénévole de Cowansville is seeking a passionate and committed Chef(fe) Cuisinier(ère) to join its brigade anti-gaspillage, an initiative dedicated to transforming surplus food from grocery stores and local farmers into nutritious meals for the center’s users. This role plays a key part in reducing food waste while providing healthy, balanced meals to the community, and involves close collaboration with a dedicated team of volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and transform surplus food items from grocers and local farmers into quality meals.
Prepare balanced, flavorful dishes using recovered products while maintaining high culinary standards.
Oversee and control inventory, ensuring cost-effective kitchen operations.
Supervise, mentor, and train volunteers in culinary techniques and best hygiene practices.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization in compliance with food safety regulations.
Requirements:
Culinary diploma or equivalent professional kitchen experience.
Strong leadership and kitchen management skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside volunteers.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of MAPAQ food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
Flexibility and adaptability to work with unpredictable food supplies.
Conditions & Benefits:
28 hours per week.
Salary: 25–27 CAD/hour, depending on experience.
Evenings and weekends off, except during special events.
Kitchen closed during holiday season and construction holiday period.
