The Centre d’action bénévole de Cowansville is seeking a passionate and committed Chef(fe) Cuisinier(ère) to join its brigade anti-gaspillage, an initiative dedicated to transforming surplus food from grocery stores and local farmers into nutritious meals for the center’s users. This role plays a key part in reducing food waste while providing healthy, balanced meals to the community, and involves close collaboration with a dedicated team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort and transform surplus food items from grocers and local farmers into quality meals.

  • Prepare balanced, flavorful dishes using recovered products while maintaining high culinary standards.

  • Oversee and control inventory, ensuring cost-effective kitchen operations.

  • Supervise, mentor, and train volunteers in culinary techniques and best hygiene practices.

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization in compliance with food safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent professional kitchen experience.

  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside volunteers.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of MAPAQ food safety standards and hygiene regulations.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with unpredictable food supplies.

Conditions & Benefits:

  • 28 hours per week.

  • Salary: 25–27 CAD/hour, depending on experience.

  • Evenings and weekends off, except during special events.

  • Kitchen closed during holiday season and construction holiday period.
