Description:

The Salvation Army, a globally recognized Christian church and charitable organization serving communities for over 130 years, is seeking a Kettle Coordinator to support its annual Christmas Kettle Campaign in the Greater St. John’s Metropolitan Area. This campaign is a century-old tradition that plays a vital role in helping communities in need by providing food, clothing, shelter, and support for those facing unemployment, addiction, or family challenges.

As a Kettle Coordinator, you will oversee several Christmas Kettle locations across shopping malls, grocery stores, and retail outlets in your assigned zone. You will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, ensuring donation security, managing kettle placement, and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses and community partners. This role requires dedication, organizational ability, and excellent people skills to ensure the campaign runs smoothly and successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend orientation/training on The Salvation Army and Christmas Kettle Campaign guidelines.

  • Coordinate with local ministry units (Corps) for kettle placement and campaign support.

  • Manage the logistics of kettle delivery to assigned locations.

  • Supervise, orient, and support kettle volunteers, ensuring they understand duties and proper handling of kettles.

  • Recruit, assign, and encourage volunteers throughout the campaign.

  • Visit locations during shift changes, providing support and ensuring donation security.

  • Handle and secure collected donations, ensuring funds are transported safely.

  • Maintain accurate timesheets, mileage reports, and other records on a weekly basis.

  • Respond to donor queries and represent The Salvation Army’s mission and values with professionalism.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in malls, stores, and public spaces.

  • Standing for extended periods and exposure to cold weather may be required.

  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends based on campaign needs.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school.

  • At least 1 year of related experience, preferably in customer service; experience handling money is an asset.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (use of own vehicle is required).

  • Ability to lift 9–12 kgs (20–25 lbs).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Team player with flexibility, resilience under pressure, and excellent organizational skills.

  • Commitment to confidentiality in handling donor, volunteer, and organizational information.

  • Willingness to uphold The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values.

Compensation:

  • Hourly pay between CAD 16.00 and CAD 19.62, with a maximum potential of CAD 23.54 depending on qualifications and experience.

  • Equivalent monthly salary range: CAD 1333 to CAD 1635 (maximum CAD 1962).

  • Placement in the pay range will be based on market conditions, equity, and candidate qualifications.
