Description:

Ontario Health is seeking a Specialist, IT Operations Technical to support the evolution and maintenance of its critical infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, and high availability. This role involves providing 24/7 operational support in a secure, mission-critical environment and includes a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (day/night, weekends, and statutory holidays).

The Specialist will work across various technologies to manage hardware/software life cycles, participate in change activities, and support infrastructure critical to Ontario's health system. This is a temporary contract with significant potential for extension.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 2 (or higher) support for infrastructure, user provisioning, and access management.

  • Monitor applications, hardware, systems, and networks to ensure operational continuity.

  • Conduct troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis for complex issues.

  • Participate in change, patching, deployment, and maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure service level commitments are met.

  • Contribute to disaster recovery, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity policy enforcement.

  • Maintain accurate records in service management tools (e.g., BMC Remedy, similar).


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent.

  • Security certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CEH, CISM, GCIH) preferred.

  • ITIL v3/v4 Foundation certification preferred.

  • Knowledge of O365, Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux/UNIX, and cloud (Azure or AWS).

  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP).

  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, firewalls, endpoint protection, intrusion detection.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
