It Intern

 

Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic IT Intern to support our Modern Workplace initiatives, while reporting to the Head of IT. This role will focus on documenting IT processes, Managing IT Assets and embedding workplace modernization practices. The intern will play a significant role in ensuring that IT policies and procedures are accessible and aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)
 

  • Providing support to users seeking information regarding IT practices within the organization and make sure the knowledge base is built to cascade it to the Support Provider too.
  • Developing content that addresses better use of systems deployed within SCC.
  • Collaborating with departments to gather their use-cases of deploying modern workplace practices, including AI, to ensure secure and efficient user experience.
     

Qualifications Include (but Are Not Limited To)
 

  • This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Job Program. To be eligible, youth must:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canadian accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • be a post-secondary student returning to school in the Fall.
  • Note: International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
  • Youth facing barriers to employment will be prioritized.

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or related program.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite, especially SharePoint and Teams.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Interest in modern workplace practices and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for diverse audiences to build strong working relationships across cultural and organizational settings, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines to achieve SCC objectives.
  • Displays analytical and problem-solving skills to support initiatives with demonstrated adaptability to support change management for successful task implementation.
  • Applies judgment and make sound decisions that are accountable, justifiable, and in adherence to policies and procedures.
     

What We Offer
 

  • This position will be paid $20.00 CAD per hour.
  • 35 hours per week.
  • Duration: June 1 to July 24, 2026 (8 weeks).
