Description:

PeopleToGo Inc., on behalf of its client—a prominent name in utility infrastructure—is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Business Partner (Information Technology Team Lead) for a 1-year contract to provide Tier 2-level onsite IT support in Hanover, Ontario, with scheduled monthly travel to Timmins, ON.

This is a highly visible role where you will act as the sole IT support representative onsite while liaising closely with the central IT team in Edmonton. You will be the face of IT operations, resolving deskside issues, assisting with network connectivity setups, and ensuring consistent end-user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Tier 2-level deskside support for laptops, desktops, mobile phones (iOS/Android), and peripheral equipment.

• Perform hardware provisioning and setup for Windows 10/11 laptops.

• Troubleshoot network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues with remote network support.

• Carry out basic hardware installations, including racking switches with remote guidance.

• Configure Starlink dishes and assist with remote site connectivity where required.

• Log, manage, and resolve incidents using a ticketing system like ServiceNow.

• Coordinate between end-users and the centralized IT team to escalate and resolve issues efficiently.

• Promote IT services within the organization by acting as a friendly and approachable partner to local business teams.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on IT support experience in a field or deskside support capacity.

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Windows 10/11 OS

  • General hardware troubleshooting

  • Mobile device support (Apple & Android)

  • Basic networking (e.g., cable connections, identifying connectivity issues)

• Proficient with service management tools (ServiceNow preferred).

• Ability to lift hardware, install equipment, and potentially climb for connectivity device installations.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with non-technical staff and distributed IT teams.

Travel & Site Expectations:

• 100% onsite presence in Hanover required during the first 6 months.

• One week per month travel to Timmins, ON (travel schedule pre-planned).

• No additional remote site visits beyond Hanover and Timmins.

Working Conditions:

• Core hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

• Some after-hours support may be needed.

• Initial low ticket volume, expected to grow over time.

• Remote work option may be considered after the probationary period.
