Description:
Our Chalk River location is looking for an IT Asset Care Specialist to oversee hardware and software asset management, support technology procurement strategies, ensure licensing compliance, and enhance asset tracking processes across the organization.
What will you be doing!
- Establishing (or refreshing) policies and procedures for tracking the sign-in and sign-out of mobile assets, such as laptops, PDAs, and other devices.
- Exploring opportunities for maximizing or exploiting unused or partially used IT assets to achieve full efficiency and ROI from company resources.
- Developing strategies and external relationships to implement plans for auctioning, recycling, or otherwise selling obsolete assets.
- Participating in evaluation of the asset management process.
- Conducting and reporting software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, warranty, and maintenance/support contract information.
- Comparing warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts to assist with asset upkeep, upgrades, repair, and replacement.
- Identifying opportunities for volume purchasing to obtain price breaks.
- Investigating equipment or software under consideration to determine ROI and total cost of ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
- Defining purchasing recommendations that support business goals, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Monitoring and analyzing trends in company spending and inventory control to make recommendations for the future, and identifying areas for possible savings and/or asset optimization.
- Providing appropriate data to purchasing and COI for contract negotiations.
- Tracking and maintaining copies of software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts, according to processes and procedures currently in place.
- Recommending process improvements where appropriate.
- Entering all software and hardware serial numbers or identification tags into the configuration management system (CMS) and ensuring information is up to date, accurate, and auditable.
- Performing inventories and usage monitoring of all IT assets and recording all findings, changes, physical location, and incidents of support.
- Researching industry best practices and comparing against the organization’s practices to establish benchmarks for managing IT assets.
- Effectively communicating asset management strategies to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Standardizing equipment to lower total costs.
- Generating, distributing, and reviewing relevant management reports.
- Investigating and resolving exceptions and accuracy issues of the CMS repository.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For
- Education
- College diploma or university degree in a field related to Information Technology and/or Asset Management.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization is a benefit (e.g., Asset Management Certification, APMG IAITAM IT Asset Management Certifications).
- Experience
- Five years’ experience in a role related to Information Technology, preferably in an Asset Management role (hardware and/or software).
- Two years direct work experience in Information Technology contract management or purchasing and procurement capacity, including all aspects of strategy development and execution.
- Two years direct work experience in managing large-scale software license agreements from vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, ServiceNow, AutoDesk, etc.
