The Manager, IS Systems Development and Support is the technical owner of one or more system(s) within Fidelity Investments Canada (FIC). This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the people, processes, and platforms in place to support assigned systems. The manager is responsible for both the operational aspects and the strategic direction of their system(s), ensuring ongoing reliability, performance, and alignment with business objectives. The incumbent will serve as FIC Information Services (IS)’ liaison with internal and external stakeholders for all matters pertaining to their system(s).

Currently, a major focus for this role is leading the modernization of FIC’s core systems. The manager will drive efforts to transform legacy platforms into resilient, agile, and AI-native systems. While modernization is the primary focus at present, the manager will also be contributing broadly to the operational and strategic success of their system(s), ensuring a well-rounded impact beyond modernization alone.
 

  • Responsible and accountable for all technical aspects of supporting, maintaining, and enhancing assigned system(s).
  • Ensures effective resource allocation and planning to meet both modernization and ongoing support requirements.
  • Acts as the IS owner for assigned projects and support activities, ensuring system design, development, code review, and deployment are completed as scheduled.
  • Manages project budgets & financial planning for modernization initiatives.
  • Manages a group of professional technical resources, including Senior Technical Analysts, Software Developers, and/or Team Managers.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates long-term plans for the team, including skill development, succession planning, and strategy for modernization and ongoing support.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of technology strategies that align with business objectives and support the long-term vision for assigned systems.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with business and technology stakeholders to ensure technology decisions are informed by both technical and business perspectives.
     

What We’re Looking For
 

  • Completed University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum 5 years of application development management experience within the Financial Industry
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Strong technical proficiency with a focus on workflow optimization, connectivity, and integration across platforms
  • Hands on experience with agile methodology
  • Experience leading modernization of legacy platforms, including cloud migration, API enablement, and adoption of AI/ML technologies.
  • Prior experience in transfer agency systems
  • Knowledge of PROGRESS OpenEdge is a nice to have
