Description:
O-I, a global leader in glass packaging with over 120 years of excellence, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forming Process Specialist to join its Brampton, Ontario facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, safety, and product quality across forming line processes. The Forming Process Specialist will be responsible for leading machine setup, managing forming process variables, enhancing team performance, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and equipment reliability. The position offers an opportunity to work in a highly technical and collaborative environment that values leadership, innovation, and hands-on expertise.
Safety Leadership
Lead all safety initiatives within the forming department, ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures.
Process Control & Optimization
Manage all forming machine process variables, including gob length, blank temperatures, gob weight controller settings, front zone glass temperatures, and XPAR IR-D.
Apply analytical and data-driven techniques to improve process stability and efficiency.
Collaborate with the Line Leader to implement best practices and standardize operational processes.
Quality Management
Monitor job quality performance, identify defects, and drive corrective action.
Work closely with plant subject matter experts to refine job setups and ensure sustainable quality improvements.
Provide technical leadership during production runs to ensure all ware meets established specifications.
Inspection & Training
Supervise and guide ware inspection activities to ensure daily quality checks are executed effectively.
Provide coaching and mentoring to team members on quality standards and technical procedures.
Share knowledge and best practices to develop forming personnel and build departmental expertise.
Technical Leadership & Maintenance
Lead IS machine operations during job changes, ensuring smooth setups and minimal downtime.
Participate in preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs, including refractory replacement, conditioning burner maintenance, and section unit changes.
Support production uptime initiatives by identifying and addressing root causes of mechanical or process-related downtime.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in glass forming operations, with hands-on experience in IS machine setup, job changes, and refractory handling.
