Description:
Canada Life is seeking a Manager of Investment Operations to lead a back-office team responsible for accounting and valuations of segregated funds and general account assets. The Manager will oversee daily pricing and valuation processes, lead multiple teams, and work closely with internal and external business partners to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight for daily pricing and valuation processes for segregated funds and general account assets.
Lead and develop the Segregated Funds Trading and Reporting teams.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, effective controls, and positive change.
Mentor and coach team members to accelerate development and performance.
Assist in developing the departmental strategic business plan, prioritizing projects, assessing risk, and assigning resources.
Oversee internal and external audit requests, testing, and controls over financial reporting documentation.
Collaborate with internal business units to support priorities, encourage innovation, and implement process improvements.
Manage relationships with external partners including investment managers, custodians, and other stakeholders.
Analyze financial information and investment results, including ad hoc analysis for senior management.
Review investment-related financial statements and other reporting.
Ensure compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
Participate in ad hoc projects and reporting as required.
Candidate Requirements:
University degree; recognized accounting or finance designation.
7+ years of accounting or finance experience with expertise in investment operations and financial reporting.
Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and guide leaders.
Experience in building and leading high-performing, engaged teams.
Highly motivated, agile, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
Highly organized with attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
Ability to anticipate, analyze, and respond to a rapidly evolving, complex environment.
