Description:

BDC is seeking a bilingual (English/French) Investigator, Financial Crimes and Misconduct to perform investigations on external fraud incidents and ensure strong controls in commercial lending processes. The role supports the identification of risks, gaps, and fraud trends to enhance BDC’s prevention strategies. The position is hybrid, based in Montreal, and requires strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage timely intake, review, and closure of external fraud investigations.

  • Investigate suspected fraud applications of varying complexity.

  • Conduct interviews with clients and external parties.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders during investigations.

  • Identify root causes and trends to mitigate external fraud risks.

  • Support fraud awareness training sessions.

  • Act as point of contact for fraud prevention inquiries.

  • Prepare clear investigation briefs and presentations for senior leadership.

  • Adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on team needs.

  • Maintain knowledge of BDC’s KYC and fraud prevention processes.

  • Understand BDC’s product offerings and loan authorization processes.

  • Collaborate with other investigators on internal fraud and misconduct cases.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline.

  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in commercial credit analysis or fraud investigations.

  • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), or related certification is a strong asset.

  • Knowledge of investigation best practices and lending methodologies.

  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously and manage priorities.

  • Strong relationship management and adaptive communication skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.

  • High integrity, professionalism, and judgment regarding confidential matters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Bilingual in French and English with excellent written and presentation skills.
