Intermediate Transportation Engineer

The Intermediate Transportation Engineer should be a very reliable, go-to person for technical engineering, project coordination and management to ensure that project deadlines are achieved, client satisfaction is maintained, and that projects are financially successful.

Duties & Responsibilities
 

  • Effectively manage assigned projects using transportation engineering industry best practices
  • Direct involvement in delivering transportation engineering assignments, including guidance of technical support staff as needed to ensure that study objectives are achieved and that project deliverables are completed
  • Attend meetings with clients, contractors, internal and municipal staff to record discussion points and decisions, and assist in project management duties including budget tracking, invoicing and accounts receivables, tracking project progress, obtaining authorizations/approvals for changes in schedule/scope, meeting project milestones in accordance with project deadlines, managing scope, etc
  • Operate across a variety of functional levels related to assigned projects
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of various aspects of the transportation industry
  • Contribute as a technical resource for the organization and other staff
  • Assist in the planning, design, evaluation, and management of transportation infrastructure
  • Participate in business development, technical proposal writing, client management, and support broader marketing efforts as needed
     

Skills & Qualifications
 

  • 3-7 years of local experience in transportation engineering projects preferred
  • Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng. within BC
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work simultaneously on several different projects
  • Consistently able to produce accurate, high-quality work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead technical support staff
  • Strong knowledge and experience dealing with traffic operations and road safety, traffic impact assessments, parking management, multi-modal corridor planning, road safety, transportation demand management, active transportation design, client management, public engagement, and technical writing
  • Strong command of MS Office and Synchro
  • CAD/Civil 3D, Vissim, Sidra and AutoTurn skills an asset but not required
