Description:
Client Data Solutions (CDSS) in Group & Wealth Operations supports both Group Benefit and Group Retirement Services clients with all of their plan member data needs.
We specialize in:
- Inbound data files from our clients into Sun Life (e.g. demographic data loads, asset transfer-in files, GRS enrolment and contribution feeds, etc.)
- Outbound data files from Sun Life to our clients (e.g. payroll deduction files, custom reports, etc.)
- Data loads, transfers, analysis and reporting to support client implementations, revisions and ongoing service
What will you do?
Client project management (75%)
- Work with Client’s and internal business partners to understand plan design and document requirements related to demographic, contribution and/or payroll files
- Identify gaps which exist between a Client’s request and Sun Life’s standards
- Work with the Client’s technical representatives to coordinate extracts and transfer of plan member data from and/or to the appropriate Sun Life systems
- Apply project management techniques to ensure client initiatives are on track: create project plans; set up and lead regular touch-points with clients; influence client and internal partners to meet deadlines; document project status, minutes and key decisions made; provide progress updates to Manager
- Troubleshoot client file issues, with the support of internal business partners
- Build data file maps using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator software
- Lead data file implementation through all stages of the software development lifecycle: requirements, solution design, development, testing, deployment and monitoring
Production support (15%)
- Provide support to internal business partners with respect to existing demographic, contribution or payroll file related inquiries
- Act as a subject matter expert when working with internal business partners to troubleshoot data file issues
Best practices and team development (10%)
- Collaborate continuously with team members to identify and implement process improvements and best practices, in order to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Create documentation of business processes and provide training on new or enhanced processes, when required
- Adhere to the team processes and workflow management
What do you need to succeed?
- Knowledge of Group Retirement products and processes is required
- Knowledge of plan setup and member administration
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment and monitoring as well as software development methodologies (Agile, Iterative, Waterfall)
- Advanced level of skills in Microsoft Excel
- Strong customer service skills
- Understanding of the “big picture” and downstream impact of work on other Operations teams
- Ability to work under pressure and meet quick turnaround times
- Collaborative, analytical and solutions-oriented
- Coding Skills with any procedural programming languages (C, C++, Java, Pascal, BASIC)
- Good understanding of XML structure, capabilities, XML parsers
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.
Assets
- Experience with Internet-based technologies (e.g. FTP, secure web-sites etc.)
- Good understanding of database schemas and related concepts; SQL scripting; ETL – Extract, Transform, Load methodology
- Translation mapping experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor to map documents in the following data formats: Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), positional, variable-length-delimited, Extensible Markup Language (XML)
