Instructor Therapists

 

Description:

Geneva Centre for Autism (GCA) is seeking Instructor Therapists to work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in an ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) Classroom or IBI (Intensive Behavioral Intervention) groups. This role involves working directly with children and their families to provide behavioral support and therapy under the supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Service Delivery:

    • Implement ABA programs according to treatment plans.

    • Provide one-on-one and group therapy to children with ASD.

    • Monitor and track behavioral data and follow protocols.

    • Address personal care requirements of children during sessions.

    • Assist in preparing teaching materials.

  2. Assessment & Reporting:

    • Record and graph data, write reports, and monitor progress notes.

    • Participate in the treatment planning process with parents and other professionals.

    • Ensure ongoing communication with the Clinical Supervisor.

    • Flag exceptional circumstances and suggest changes to programs as needed.

  3. Team Support & Training:

    • Mentor and guide Junior Instructor Therapists by modeling effective strategies.

    • Provide training and support to caregivers.

    • Liaise with parents about their child's progress.

  4. Other Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate reliability and dependability in all tasks.

    • Participate in professional development opportunities.

    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the classroom.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Education: University degree or College diploma in behavioral sciences, social services, psychology, or early childhood education.

  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant work experience (2 years preferred).

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of early childhood education, autism, and ABA.

    • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities and/or autism.

    • Good interpersonal and time-management skills.

    • Ability to collaborate and accept feedback from team members.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • Comfortable working in a structured environment.

    • Reliable transportation (e.g., TTC, personal vehicle).

    • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.

    • Ability to meet physical demands such as bending, stooping, and lifting up to 20 kg.

    • Ability to work with children at their level, sitting or bending for long periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Classroom setting with a focus on one-on-one and group therapy.

  • Must wear a mask and shield throughout shifts.

  • Cleaning duties as part of the role.

  • Physical activity including bending, stooping, and lifting.
