Industrial Millwright

Description:

Gerdau North America, a leader in the steel manufacturing industry, is currently seeking a skilled and certified Industrial Millwright to join their dynamic maintenance team at their Whitby, Ontario facility. This role plays a critical part in supporting operational reliability and efficiency through the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced heavy industrial environment, focusing on both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure uninterrupted production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, install, repair, replace, and adjust mechanical equipment throughout the plant.

• Maintain and service pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

• Interpret and act on instructions, blueprints, and work orders for routine and emergency maintenance.

• Assess situations to determine the safest and most efficient repair methods while minimizing downtime.

• Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for recording maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

• Conduct routine rounds to monitor equipment condition and detect abnormalities using checklists or digital tools.

• Operate power-driven mobile equipment and crane hooking tasks as required.

Requirements:

• Certificate of Qualification as Industrial Mechanic/Millwright (433A), as recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario.

• Prior experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting preferred.

• Proficient in mechanical systems including bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics, lubrication, and rotating equipment.

• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and willingness to collaborate across trades.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to use CMMS tools.

• Must pass background, education, and criminal checks as well as a post-offer medical and ergonomic assessment.

• Ability to work rotating shifts.
