Description:

Seaspan ULC, one of North America’s most advanced and diverse shipyards, is seeking an ILS Engineer II to join its growing team in North Vancouver, BC. In this position, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) and related engineering activities, supporting Seaspan’s long-term projects with the Canadian Coast Guard, Navy, and other major clients.

The ILS Engineer II will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product maintainability, reliability, and testability while optimizing lifecycle costs. The role demands strong analytical skills, engineering knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively across design, supply chain, and technical documentation functions.

This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after the first 90 days of onsite onboarding, subject to Seaspan’s Flexible Work Policy Agreement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses, including Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), sparing analysis, and life cycle cost assessments.

  • Support design engineering teams by providing actionable insights derived from RAM analyses to enhance product performance and supportability.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to ensure suppliers comply with ILS requirements and verify the accuracy of technical data.

  • Build and maintain Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) databases, such as LSAR or equivalent systems, to ensure reliable documentation and data integrity.

  • Contribute to the development of maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, provisioning data, and technical reports.

  • Apply relevant industry standards, regulations, and engineering principles to all analyses and documentation.

  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of ILS deliverables.

  • Perform other related duties as required by the LSA Supervisor.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer in Training (EIT) designation preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in ILS, RAMS, or Systems Engineering, ideally within shipbuilding, defense, aviation, rail, or automotive industries.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to apply engineering judgment in decision-making.

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Security and Compliance:
