Human Resources Advisor

 

Description:

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), an internationally renowned biomedical and hospital research center based in Montreal, is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to provide both strategic and operational HR support. This temporary, full-time role is a maternity leave replacement starting in late May or early June and offers a primarily remote working arrangement with some on-site requirements.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted HR partner for researchers and managers, advising on a broad range of human resources topics including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, compensation, disability management, and compliance. The HR Advisor will also contribute to strategic initiatives like HR automation and staff training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HR advice, coaching, and support to researchers and lab managers across multiple HR domains

  • Coach and assist with performance management and employee relations matters

  • Handle employee leave management, including disability and return-to-work planning

  • Assist researchers, employees, and trainees with work and study permit applications

  • Lead and implement HR projects including process automation and training initiatives

  • Develop and present HR-related training sessions for staff and management

  • Contribute to the development of procedures, manuals, and HR best practices

  • Make compensation recommendations for new hires and internal role adjustments

  • Keep current on HR trends to inform strategies and continuous improvement

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience

  • CRHA designation required

  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written)

  • Strong interpersonal, advisory, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with diplomacy and discretion

Additional Information:

  • Status: Temporary Full-Time (35 hours/week)

  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • Location: Primarily Remote, with periodic on-site presence at RI-MUHC

  • Salary: $48,503.00 – $90,090.00 annually (Approx. $4041 – $7507.50 monthly)
