The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA), Canada’s largest port and a federal agency dedicated to enabling national trade while ensuring environmental protection and community well-being, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join its team in Vancouver.
This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering innovative HR strategies that align with VFPA’s mission and strategic objectives. The HR Business Partner will provide expert consultation to leaders, supporting workforce planning, career development, employee relations, succession planning, performance management, compensation, and organizational design.
You will act as a strategic advisor and thought leader to enhance organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and talent retention across various business units.
Partner with senior leaders to implement innovative organizational and people-related strategies.
Provide thought leadership to challenge and refine existing HR practices while fostering strong business partnerships.
Oversee performance management and talent review processes, ensuring identification and development of key talent.
Coach and guide people leaders to support their professional growth and the development of their teams.
Lead workforce planning to align talent needs with organizational goals.
Develop and implement programs that enhance employee engagement and experience.
Promote organizational resilience by supporting change management and capacity-building initiatives.
Conduct talent assessments, engagement surveys, and provide training resources to support growth and transformation.
Advise on career planning, compensation, organization design, and employee relations in compliance with employment laws.
Collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence to champion a culture of excellence.
Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends and improve organizational effectiveness.
Provide subject matter expertise for cross-functional HR projects and initiatives.
University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organizational Design (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic HR partnership roles.
Coaching certification (in progress or completed) is an asset.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights and recommendations from data.
Proven expertise in organizational design, succession planning, performance management, diversity/inclusion, change management, compensation and rewards, talent management, conflict resolution, and employee relations.
Strong consulting orientation with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client-service skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS platforms.
Legal entitlement to work in Canada is required.
