House Medical Officer

Description:

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), in partnership with Misericordia Health Centre (MHC), is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physician to join their Clinical Resource Team. This position is ideal for physicians who thrive in a dynamic clinical setting and are passionate about providing high-quality primary care and medical support within a hospital environment.

The role functions similarly to a House Medical Officer, with a primary focus on eye assessments at the primary care level, along with responding to occasional urgent or unscheduled medical issues within the facility. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling with six-hour or twelve-hour shifts, strong specialist support, and paid orientation and training to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform primary care-level eye assessments and manage patient care in accordance with hospital protocols.

• Respond promptly to unscheduled or urgent medical cases within the hospital setting.

• Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and allied healthcare staff to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care.

• Participate in ongoing clinical training and orientation programs provided by the WRHA.

• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation for all patient interactions and interventions.

• Uphold WRHA’s standards for safety, ethics, and professionalism in all patient and team interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).

• Must be CCFP eligible or CCFP certified (Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada).

• Eligible for a medical staff appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA).

• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to provide compassionate and effective care.

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple patient needs efficiently.

Compensation & Work Schedule:

• Compensation: Paid under the WRHA sessional hourly rate (competitive and experience-based).

• Schedule: Flexible 6-hour or 12-hour shifts, with opportunities for both daytime and evening coverage.

• Training: Paid orientation and comprehensive onboarding program provided.
