Description:
The Heritage Interpreter is responsible for providing information and tours to museum visitors in an exciting and engaging fashion. They share their passion for history and hockey with visitors to create a memorable experience and lasting impression. For the 2025 season, the Heritage Interpreter will be tasked with completing a research project on a topic of their choice. In addition to this, the Heritage Interpreter will have to perform basic cleaning and housekeeping tasks to aid in the preservation of the museum.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greeting visitors as they enter the museum and offering information and tours.
- Contributing to the preservation of the museum’s collection by performing cleaning duties.
- Processing cash, debit, and credit sales in the gift shop and keeping track of merchandise inventory.
- Creating a research report over the course of the work term.
- Using creative skills to make engaging social media content.
- Acting as a team member, providing help to co-workers when needed.
Required Skills:
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience doing research and writing reports.
- Customer service skills.
- Social media experience is considered an asset.
- Cash handling is considered an asset.
This is job is made possible through the Summer Student Skills Incentive (SKILL). Due to this, candidates for this position must be entering or continuing full time post-secondary studies in fall 2025. This position will provide the student opportunities for training and guidance to gain valuable career skills.
