Directive Consulting, a leading B2B performance marketing agency specializing in revenue-focused growth strategies, is seeking a Head of Paid Media – Startups (Director of Demand Generation) to spearhead its Startups Division. The role is designed for an experienced, high-performing marketing leader with deep knowledge of B2B and SaaS, strong Paid Media expertise, and a proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary teams across Paid Media, SEO, and CRO.
This position is pivotal in shaping strategy, driving execution, and ensuring client success for a high-velocity portfolio of startup and SMB clients. As a senior leader, you will guide a cross-functional team of 20+ digital marketers, including Associate Directors and Demand Generation Managers, with Paid Media accounting for 90% of the division’s service delivery. You will play a critical role in scaling accounts, building leadership capabilities, and ensuring operational excellence across client campaigns.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leading, coaching, and inspiring a 20-person marketing team to deliver consistently high-quality strategy and execution.
Developing Associate Directors into strong client-facing leaders and people managers.
Acting as executive sponsor for top-tier startup accounts, driving alignment in renewals, ABRs, and escalations.
Owning key KPIs such as client retention, NRR, campaign performance, and team engagement.
Shaping strategic direction of the Startups division, including forecasting, hiring, and budgeting.
Partnering cross-functionally with Sales and service lines to fuel new business, upsells, cross-sells, and retention.
Overseeing department planning, capacity, and hiring to support sustainable growth.
Skills & Qualifications:
7–10+ years of experience in performance marketing leadership, ideally in an agency environment.
Strong background in B2B and SaaS marketing with success in managing high-volume, fast-paced accounts.
Experience managing 30+ client accounts with multi-service delivery oversight.
Proven ability to coach and develop senior managers and individual contributors.
Proficiency in auditing Paid Media campaigns across Google Ads, LinkedIn, and review platforms such as G2/Capterra.
Working knowledge of SEO and CRO.
Exceptional executive presence with the ability to represent the agency confidently in C-level discussions.
Strong decision-making, KPI-driven execution, and operational management skills.
Bonus: Experience publishing, mentoring, or speaking in the B2B/SaaS marketing space.
Bonus: Familiarity with RevOps, lifecycle metrics (e.g., LTV:CAC), and onboarding frameworks.
