Description:

The Greater Miramichi Service Commission, through its economic development division Growing Greater Miramichi, is seeking a passionate and driven Growth Officer to help strengthen local businesses, foster workforce development, and advance regional priorities in both urban and rural communities. This role provides a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the region’s economic future through strategic initiatives, community partnerships, and hands-on business support.

Reporting to the Director of Regional Economic Development, the Growth Officer will serve as a primary liaison between local entrepreneurs, community groups, workforce organizations, and government partners. The position involves delivering impactful programs that support business expansion, workforce readiness, investment attraction, and community-led economic growth projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for local businesses seeking guidance on expansion, planning, or operational improvement

  • Support entrepreneurs with business planning, marketing, digital transformation, financing, and other growth initiatives

  • Coordinate and deliver business support programs, workforce development events, and regional workshops

  • Assist in advancing community-led economic development projects across the Greater Miramichi region

  • Facilitate workforce development activities, including managing the regional job board, employer outreach, and building partnerships with training institutions

  • Track and analyze regional economic data to support strategic planning and highlight available resources

  • Represent the region at community events, industry conferences, and meetings with provincial/federal stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in economic development, community planning, business consulting, or related work

  • Proven relationship-building, facilitation, and communication skills

  • Experience engaging with rural communities and regional partnerships

  • Proficiency in digital tools and data collection systems

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities; self-motivated and proactive

  • Post-secondary education in business, economics, planning, or a related discipline

  • Bilingual (French/English) skills are a strong asset

  • Willingness to travel within the region and occasionally work evenings
