While this position is a short-term contract, there may be possibilities for full-time or part-time extension based on the individual’s performance and the needs of the company following the shipping period. Job Description
- Work with a small nursery team
- Assist with plant pick up and select strongest plants for sale
- Assist with order dispatch
- Keep each order separate and organized
- Prepare orders for packaging
- Packing each order into boxes for shipping
- Cleaning and organizing workstations
Qualifications
- Education and/or experience in horticulture or a related field is an asset
- Quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Responsible and able to work independently
- Organized and strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a small team
· Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule
- Able to understand and follow directions exactly as given
- Health and Safety mindfulness
- Valid G class drivers license (or able to arrange reliable transportation to the nursery)
- Fitness: A variety of tasks require workers to stay in one position over long periods of time: standing, kneeling, sitting. Able to safely lift 40lbs on occasion, and possibly participate in small construction projects.
- Ability to work outdoors in hot summer weather and rain.
