As a Graduate Nurse, you will be responsible for providing holistic patient care using critical thinking and evidence-based practices. Your role will involve coordinating nursing care, developing and evaluating patient care plans, and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure positive health outcomes. You will practice in alignment with the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics, the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Practice, and organizational policies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing nursing processes to care for individuals, families, and communities.

  • Developing, implementing, and assessing care plans.

  • Maintaining professional competencies through continuous education and development.

  • Practicing safely and ethically as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.

Nova Scotia Health also offers a New Nurse Mentorship Program, designed to help newly licensed nurses, practical nurses, and internationally educated nurses transition into practice smoothly with mentorship, guidance, and a sense of inclusion.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rates: Graduate Nurse (35.06 CAD/hour) and Registered Nurse (starting at 40.55 CAD/hour).

  • Signing bonuses starting at 5000 CAD (up to 10,000 CAD for rural placements).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school within the last 12 months or graduating within the next 12 months (September 2025 to August 2026).

  • Eligible for licensing with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in high-stress environments.

  • BLS Certificate with active First Aid and CPR at Health Care Provider (HCP) level.
