Description:

Soroptimist International of Toronto is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to take on the role of Fundraising Chair. This is a remote volunteer position focused on leading and coordinating the organization’s fundraising efforts throughout the program year. As Fundraising Chair, you will be pivotal in driving the financial sustainability of the organization by planning, managing, and executing various fundraising events and initiatives that align with the mission and vision of Soroptimist International.


Position Overview:

You will lead a fundraising committee and collaborate with other key leaders within the organization to ensure that fundraising efforts are strategically aligned with club goals and initiatives. Your role includes recruiting and organizing volunteers, managing resources efficiently, and reporting on fundraising progress and outcomes to the Board and club members. This position requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a passion for supporting nonprofit causes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Convene and lead a fundraising committee to brainstorm, plan, and recommend fundraising events and strategies for the club year.

  • Collaborate closely with the Treasurer to evaluate the organization’s annual fundraising targets and financial needs.

  • Coordinate with leaders from other organizational pillars (such as Program, Membership, and Public Awareness) to ensure fundraising activities support and integrate with club-wide initiatives.

  • Recruit, organize, and support volunteer teams (including members and non-members) to assist with fundraising events and campaigns.

  • Provide consistent updates, reports, and insights to the Board and club members regarding fundraising activities, progress toward goals, and financial outcomes.

  • Oversee accurate financial tracking and reporting in partnership with the Treasurer to maintain transparency and accountability.


Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Soroptimist International.

  • Availability of approximately 3 hours per week to dedicate to volunteer duties.

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising at a management or leadership level.

  • Proficiency in project management and event planning, including ability to organize and motivate volunteers.

  • Familiarity with common nonprofit fundraising tools, platforms, and best practices.

  • A strong professional network within the fundraising community is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and motivational skills.

  • Proven capacity to create, implement, and follow through on actionable work plans.
