Full-time Aquatics

Description:

The Canada Games Aquatic Centre (CGAC) is seeking a full-time Lifeguard to ensure the safety of patrons in its pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam room, diving boards, and other aquatic areas. As part of the Aquatics team, lifeguards play a vital role in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment while also assisting in program promotions, customer service, and instructional duties when needed.

Lifeguards are expected to remain alert, identify safety concerns, and respond promptly to emergencies. They will work collaboratively with other team members, participate in mandatory training sessions, and maintain professionalism while on duty.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor pool areas, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
• Respond quickly to potential and actual safety concerns and emergencies.
• Assist in promoting aquatic programs and facility activities.
• Teach swim lessons if required (Swim-to-Survive and private lessons).
• Maintain accurate records and submit reports promptly.
• Attend mandatory training and maintain certifications.
• Wear required uniform and maintain a professional image.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve facility operations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current National Lifeguard Pool Certification.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED Certification.
• WHMIS Certification (can be obtained during hiring).

Assessed Qualifications:

• Reliable, strong leadership, and team player.
• Good judgment and ability to handle confidential matters.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding of CGAC’s mission and operations.
• Initiative and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

• Experience in recreation, aquatic, or sports facilities.
• Bilingual (English/French) candidates preferred.
• Swim Instructor or Airway Management Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Preference given to current employees.

Salary & Benefits:

• Hourly Pay: $16.14 - $20.20 per hour.
