Description:
The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope is seeking a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Front Desk Clerk to serve as the first point of contact for visitors and clients. This role involves greeting and directing visitors, handling inquiries in person or by phone, registering new clients, issuing access cards, maintaining records, accepting and securing client medications, and working closely with shelter staff to ensure exemplary service delivery.
You will also handle mail, monitor security, provide referrals, process payments received at the front desk, and maintain accurate documentation. The position requires working in compliance with health and safety regulations, treating all clients with dignity and respect, and representing The Salvation Army in a manner consistent with its mission and values.
Qualifications:
Two-year College Diploma or University Degree in human or social services (required)
First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (or willingness to obtain)
Criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening
Understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission
Strong oral/written communication, organizational, computer, and clerical skills
Ability to work with vulnerable populations and apply a Housing First philosophy
Sound judgment, interpersonal skills, adaptability, and compassion
Working Conditions:
Location: 281 Wellington Street, London, ON N6B 2L4 (and outreach locations)
Part-time, weekends overnight shift (Saturday & Sunday, 12 am–8 am)
Temporary contract until May 31, 2026
½ hour paid meal break where applicable
