Forestry Harvesting Manager

 

Description:

Phénicia Conseil, on behalf of a subsidiary of a multinational group specialized in renewable energy and recognized globally as a leader in its sector, is seeking a Harvesting Manager (M/F) – Forestry for its operations in Lac de Petit Saut, French Guiana.

This is a permanent, full-time role based on-site only – remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.

As the Harvesting Manager, your primary mission is to oversee and coordinate timber harvesting operations on the Lac de Petit Saut. You will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, meeting production targets, managing teams, and upholding strict environmental, health, and safety standards. Your leadership will directly impact the success of forestry operations and the optimization of floating equipment in a challenging and remote environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and execute the harvest plan as validated by upper management.

  • Supervise and assess harvesting zones before and during operations.

  • Ensure consistent communication and accurate reporting of production data and machine downtimes.

  • Monitor key performance indicators and ensure daily targets are met.

  • Optimize operational continuity and equipment uptime by managing daily activities of harvesting crews.

  • Work closely with SHARC™ mechanics to maintain and troubleshoot floating machinery.

  • Onboard, train, and upskill team members while actively participating in their development.

  • Oversee recruitment, staff scheduling, and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

  • Enforce internal rules and corporate policies, particularly in relation to Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and confidentiality.


Qualifications and Technical Skills:

  • A higher education degree in forestry or related discipline and/or minimum 10 years’ experience in forest management.

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, and comfort in Windows-based environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with proven skills in team coordination and performance management.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and mechanics.

  • Mandatory possession of an “inland waters” boat license and CACES R482 Category B1.

  • Fluency in English (minimum TOEIC B2 level) is required; knowledge of French is considered a valuable asset.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate teams in a challenging outdoor environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work in remote, outdoor locations under varying weather conditions.
