Compass Group Canada, a part of the global Compass Group, is seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join its team as Part-Time Food Service Workers in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. You’ll be a key part of the Chartwells division, supporting nutritious and responsible dining experiences for students and educational communities. This role provides weekday hours with no weekend or evening shifts — perfect for individuals seeking work-life balance in a positive and supportive environment.
Prepare, present, and serve meals in accordance with Compass Group’s quality and safety standards.
Perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
Carry food items, pans, and trays safely between workstations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Store food properly by following wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures to maintain freshness and compliance with food safety rules.
Set up food and beverage items for daily service or retail purchase.
Provide friendly and efficient service to customers, ensuring satisfaction and addressing any concerns.
Follow all FoodSafe and sanitation standards while maintaining a clean work environment.
Assist with dishwashing, garbage removal, and overall kitchen organization as required.
Utilize approved recipes and portion standards; notify cooks if food temperatures or quality are not within acceptable limits.
Support cashiering and other front-line service duties when needed.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding operations, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Education: FoodSafe Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience: Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or a similar environment is an asset.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with cash register use is advantageous.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and carry out manual tasks such as lifting and transporting food trays.
Communication Skills: Good command of English (verbal and written) with the ability to follow directions accurately.
Personal Attributes: Strong time management, attention to detail, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when needed.
