Fluid Care Technician

 

Description:

The Fluid Care Technician position will be key in supporting the maintenance team when

assisting in the control of the lubes and oils used in the machining center and for the

equipment to ensure the production of high-quality reciprocating gas engines in our

manufacturing areas.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Assisting in developing plans to launch and support the Machine Shop Reclamation system.
  • Stocking and storing oils and lubes in the storage room and Point of Use racks, while taking inventory control of min and max lubes, oils, and chemicals, with appropriate labelling.
  • Performing QA/QC checks on coolant & soap concentrations plant-wide two times weekly and documenting results.
  • Performing work of a specialized nature covering Fluid management for all equipment and machining center.
  • Supporting operation, maintenance and QA/QC verification of coolant & soap recycling systems and RO water unit for the machining area.
  • Assisting in regular filter changes on equipment (i.e., Bag Filters, Ranshoff Washers, Makino Chip Blasters, Makino Spindles).
  • Following up on CMMS (Fiix) service requests concerning “Fluid Care” needs.
  • Liaison with maintenance and external service providers for machinery & equipment overhauls, chip management, wastewater management and scrap metal lugger box pickup and drop off.
  • Assisting in overseeing preventative maintenance on sumps, trenches and wash systems scheduled through CMMS (Fiix) and based on CSR (Customer Service Reports) from a third party.
  • Compiling documents for service requests & PMs in the CMMS (Fiix) computerized maintenance management system.
  • Assisting with maintaining the sump sucker for machining center clean-outs and for when performing equipment and machine greasing/lubing.
  • Coordinating specific material QC/QA checks or sampling in other areas or processes (Test cells, boilers, cooling towers, oils etc.)
     

Qualifications / Requirements
 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to drive and use specialized equipment (Lift Truck 5000 lb. capacity minimum, sump sucker, floor scrubber)
  • Experience with Mechanical Assembly, Automation and Robotics, Machine Repair,
  • Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic systems etc.
  • Minor troubleshooting & repairing of industrial M/C’s and equipment
  • Experience working with metalworking fluids and coolants.
  • Use of and calibrating refractometers and charting results for ISO9001 verification.
