Description:
Brock Development Group, a fully integrated real estate investment firm, is seeking a highly detail-oriented and strategic Controller to oversee and manage their financial operations. With a diverse portfolio spanning Southwestern Ontario and the Caribbean—including land development, mid-rise apartments, custom homes, and luxury villa rentals—the company is committed to executing projects in-house with a focus on quality, innovation, and strategic insight.
The Controller will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, implementing strong internal controls, supporting development projects, and facilitating strategic financial planning. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams across accounting, development, property management, and sales/marketing departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all accounting and financial operations.
Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
Ensure timely payment to vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Coordinate and prepare regulatory filings and year-end processes with external accountants.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and accounting regulations.
Manage cash flow, rent collection, and tenant billing systems.
Analyze financial aspects of property development and support financing activities.
Assist with financial planning for new projects and home sales.
Ensure accuracy in reporting capital expenditures and receivables.
Review legal agreements to meet financial reporting requirements.
Maintain internal financial controls and develop accounting policies.
Provide financial insights to support strategic business decisions.
Communicate with stakeholders including property managers, asset managers, and lenders.
Occasional travel required to support on-site initiatives.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
CPA designation is mandatory.
Hands-on experience with Sage or other accounting platforms.
Several years of relevant experience in property accounting and management.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact with banks and internal teams.
Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive attitude with adaptability to dynamic business needs.
