Description:

MPA Recruitment, on behalf of a leading non-profit organization specializing in providing comprehensive mental health services to children and families, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join their team in Toronto. This vital role supports the organization’s mission by ensuring the financial stability, accountability, and efficiency of operations serving children and young people with complex mental health needs.

As the Financial Analyst, you will work closely with the Director of Finance, playing a critical role in analyzing financial performance, preparing budgets, and overseeing government submissions. The position requires a professional who can independently manage financial processes, provide insightful analyses, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of monthly financial results, comparing actuals to budgets and identifying variances for corrective action.

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and government submissions for various ministries (MCCSS, MOHLTC, TC LHIN).

  • Monitor program expenditures regularly to ensure operations remain within approved financial parameters.

  • Coordinate and streamline the reporting of quarterly statistics and financial data across service areas.

  • Prepare year-end financial statements, working papers, and ensure audit compliance.

  • Design and automate financial reports using existing accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Board of Directors, program directors, and management teams, ensuring financial alignment with funding requirements.

  • Lead the development and submission of quarterly and annual filing requirements, maintaining compliance with all funding and regulatory obligations.

  • Participate in special financial projects such as corporate or program restructuring proposals and projections.

  • Maintain confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

  • Preferred: MBA and/or recognized accounting designation (CMA, CA, CGA) – completed or in progress.

  • Experience:

    • 2–3 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or related fields (telecommunications and/or non-profit sector experience preferred).

    • Proven experience managing financial analysis, reporting, and compliance processes.

  • Skills:

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership.

    • Demonstrated leadership abilities including mentoring, coaching, and collaboration.

    • Proactive and self-driven, with a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary: CA$75,000 – CA$77,500 (CA$6250 – CA$6458 per month).
