Financial Analyst

 

Description:

CAE is seeking a Financial Analyst – Technology Investments to serve as the finance expert and key resource for business cases and performance evaluation of a large portfolio of technology investments. This role is responsible for reviewing and validating business cases and financial performance indicators, providing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, and developing financial reports and data visualizations to drive strategic decision-making.

The Financial Analyst will report to the Head of Finance for Digital Initiatives and play a central role in enhancing investment evaluation methodologies and performance measurement of delivered technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Case & Financial Analysis (30%)

  • Review and validate business cases and financial performance indicators for a portfolio of technology investments.
  • Ensure ROI calculations and financial KPIs are accurate before business cases are presented to senior management.
  • Validate financial assumptions, conduct scenario analysis, and assess investment feasibility.
  • Participate in business case presentations beyond financial aspects.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize investment decisions.

Performance Evaluation & Reporting (40%)

  • Analyze financial performance of delivered technology initiatives and compare business case projections vs. actual results.
  • Develop financial dashboards and data visualizations to highlight key insights.
  • Build automated reporting tools to accelerate financial data collection and analysis.
  • Lead financial modeling to support ongoing OKRs and ad hoc strategic needs.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to improve investment outcomes.

Process Improvement & Governance (30%)

  • Enhance the methodology for business case evaluation and investment performance tracking.
  • Contribute to budget planning, investment roadmaps (PDLC), and governance frameworks.
  • Support initiatives that improve the accuracy, comparability, and efficiency of business case preparation.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized investment tracking platform.
  • Support non-technology investment evaluations when required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA designation required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis, or 3 years in a consulting firm.
  • Proven expertise in business case preparation (technology investments is a plus).
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budget planning, and investment analysis.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling.
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken & written).
