Description:

HireTalent – a leading staffing and recruiting firm specializing in niche talent acquisition across Canada and the US – is seeking a skilled Finance Manager to join its client team in Montreal, QC. This is a critical contract role designed for a finance professional with strong experience in IT budget management, governance, and portfolio oversight.

The Finance Manager will serve as the key resource and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in the office of the CIO, managing IT budgets and financial operations for both global and local stakeholders. This role requires someone who can handle complex financial workflows, ensure strong governance, and provide critical oversight of IT project portfolios. The ideal candidate will have a blend of financial acumen, IT governance understanding, and exceptional communication skills to collaborate with leadership teams and global counterparts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Budget & Financial Management:

    • Act as the SPOC for global and local stakeholders to manage IT budgets and financials.

    • Handle daily budget requests, prepare presentations, and generate regular financial reports.

    • Work with IT managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to monitor headcount, allocate program codes, process budget transfers, and oversee project cost/risk assessments.

    • Manage rolling forecasts, cost center mapping, business allocation keys, invoice validation, purchasing requests, and spend analysis.

    • Support the preparation of global and local IT budget presentations and provide ongoing financial oversight.

    • Oversee annual budget processes and frequent monitoring of IT spend.

  • Project Portfolio Management:

    • Oversee the CIB IT Project portfolio and ensure governance through the Project Portfolio Committee.

    • Act as SPOC for central teams and IT managers, managing recurring Clarity tool updates such as project costs, resources, allocations, and governance assessments.

    • Strengthen IT project portfolio quality by reinforcing global standards and improving governance procedures.

  • Oversight & Governance:

    • Gather and consolidate control evidence during IT audits, regulatory reviews, and second-line-of-defense assessments.

    • Govern transversal activities, coordinating with diverse non-IT teams including HR, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Information Security, Infrastructure, and more.

    • Ensure IT governance standards are met across all projects and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, IT, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel (functions, formulas, pivot tables, macros, charts) and PowerPoint for executive-level reporting.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present engaging, informative, and persuasive financial insights to leadership teams.

  • Strong organizational and program management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and functions.

  • Proven ability to build effective networks within IT and business functions.

  • Experience in IT governance, project portfolio oversight, or program management is highly desirable.

Role Highlights:

  • Hybrid working model with 3 days onsite in Montreal, QC.

  • Contract role with an initial duration of 12 months and the possibility of extension.

  • Competitive hourly pay in the range of CA$60 – CA$74.
