Field Service Technician

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is actively seeking skilled and motivated Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics to join their Field Service Technician team in Alberta and British Columbia. Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of heavy mining equipment in line with technical specifications.

• Plan and prepare tools and parts required to execute tasks safely and effectively.

• Commission new equipment, including pre-delivery inspections and on-site commissioning.

• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to diagnose recurring problems and recommend solutions.

• Identify and repair equipment components, ensuring preventive and cost-efficient maintenance.

• Provide technical coaching and guidance to junior staff and customer technicians.

• Support customers by suggesting improvements to optimize product performance and processes.

• Document and complete detailed maintenance reports for internal and client use.

• Travel to various mine sites across Western Canada as required.

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Strictly comply with Sandvik’s safety policies and all local regulatory standards.

• Conduct safety risk assessments prior to each task (“Take Five” approach).

• Maintain proper housekeeping, safe working practices, and ensure correct PPE usage.

• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.

• Participate in EHS-related training and uphold high safety standards at all times.

Qualifications & Skills Required

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/related field.

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License (mandatory).

• At least 3 years of relevant experience with heavy mining equipment (Sandvik equipment experience is a plus).

• Strong proficiency in reading schematics and diagnosing mechanical/electrical faults.

• Computer literacy, especially in MS Office applications.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
