Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS), a cornerstone of community impact since 1974, is seeking a Family Resource Worker to support our Bellies and Babies and Parent-Tot programs. This part-time, in-person role is based in Sechelt, BC and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

The Family Resource Worker will support parents and caregivers with children aged 0-6 years, promoting healthy pregnancy, positive parenting, and child development. You’ll be part of a team that provides a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment tailored to diverse family needs. Reporting to the Program Lead, your role is essential in empowering families and nurturing parent-child relationships in a compassionate and inclusive setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and facilitate engaging play-based learning environments for children

  • Promote parent involvement and support positive parenting strategies

  • Share guidance and information on maternal health, nutrition, infant care, and breastfeeding

  • Encourage social development in children and model healthy interactions

  • Refer families to appropriate community services and resources

  • Assist with meal prep and food service for program participants

  • Help maintain a safe, hygienic environment by inspecting and cleaning toys and equipment

  • Collaborate with coworkers and support student or volunteer learning

  • Apply cultural competency when engaging with Indigenous families and communities

  • Administer surveys for feedback, attend monthly meetings, and support data collection for reporting

  • Ensure adherence to SCCSS policies, safety standards, and confidentiality


Required Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education or Family Resource Worker certification (or equivalent education & experience)

  • Strong understanding of prenatal/postnatal care, breastfeeding, infant development, and family support

  • Emergency Child Care First Aid with infant CPR (mandatory)

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

  • Experience in a family-centered environment with strong communication and facilitation skills

  • Criminal Record Check clearance required

  • Food Safe certification (asset)
