Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join their team in Prince George, BC. This full-time, term position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of Indigenous families and communities. CSFS is a progressive, culturally rooted organization with a mission to provide holistic health and family services to 11-member Nations in northern British Columbia. This role is ideal for a compassionate and culturally sensitive professional committed to supporting family wellness, empowering parents and caregivers, and ensuring child safety through strength-based, trauma-informed practices. Working closely with families and other service providers, the Family Preservation Worker supports the development and implementation of individualized Family Service Plans that address the unique needs and goals of each family.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather comprehensive client information through interviews, observations, and tools such as checklists, questionnaires, and behavioral inventories.

  • Provide support, coaching, and guidance to clients using conflict resolution strategies, psycho-educational techniques, and group counselling approaches.

  • Assist clients in enhancing family functioning and resilience through individual and group interventions.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Family Service Plans tailored to the family’s strengths, needs, and risks.

  • Collaborate with caregivers, service providers, and community supports to facilitate positive outcomes for families.

  • Maintain detailed case documentation and uphold professional standards in service delivery.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or a comparable human services field
    OR

    • Social Services Diploma with at least 2 years of extensive experience in family services

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultural practices and the impacts of intergenerational trauma

  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations and providing family support services

Additional Role Features:

  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

  • Term: Ending September 2026 (this position is not eligible for employee benefits)
