Family Physician

 

Description:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking qualified Family Physicians to provide locum services across multiple rural and regional health centres within the Prairie Mountain Health region. In this role, you will serve as the primary care provider for patients, delivering a comprehensive range of medical services including diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases, physiological disorders, and injuries. You will provide continuous care to patients, ensuring follow-up and preventive health measures. Physicians will participate in the Emergency Department on-call rotation, coordinating and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

The work will be conducted on-site in a variety of rural locations, offering diverse clinical experiences and community interactions. You will work various shifts, including days, early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call duties. The position requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and a dedication to serving communities in a culturally respectful and patient-centered manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-spectrum family medicine services, including chronic disease management, preventive care, and acute illness treatment

  • Diagnose and manage medical conditions, injuries, and physiological disorders

  • Participate in Emergency Department coverage and on-call rotations

  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure quality care delivery

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with health regulations

  • Respect and support cultural diversity within the patient population

  • Meet physical and mental demands of a fast-paced medical environment

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine degree

  • Current licensure or eligibility for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba

  • CMPA membership or equivalent malpractice insurance coverage

  • Ability to work in a rural, fast-paced healthcare setting with varied workloads

  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills

  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics

Additional Conditions:

  • Must provide and maintain satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check (current within 6 months prior to start date)

  • Compliance with Prairie Mountain Health immunization policy for healthcare workers

Work Environment:

  • On-site, rural healthcare facilities
