Description:
Ongomiizwin Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing is seeking an experienced Family Physician to fill a 0.5 EFT Fly-In Float position within its Northern Medical Unit. The physician will provide primary healthcare services to remote Indigenous communities including Berens River, Poplar River, Little Grand Rapids, Pauingassi, and Bloodvein. The ideal candidate must be capable of working independently alongside nursing staff, delivering high-quality medical care in resource-limited settings.
Physicians will fly in from Winnipeg or St Andrews Airport on Monday mornings and return Thursday or Friday evenings, depending on the specific community location. Out-of-province travel expenses are covered, provided the physician commits to a minimum of two consecutive weeks. In-province travel is fully covered by the organization.
The position requires a physician who is eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and who holds a valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Physicians who do not already have the following certifications must obtain them within six months of contract start:
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Compensation is in accordance with the Doctors Manitoba contract effective from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2023.
