Seneca Polytechnic, Ontario’s first polytechnic and a leading institution in Canada, is seeking a Part-Time Professor for its School of Biological Sciences & Applied Chemistry, to contribute to its Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research (CRQC) program. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced educator or industry professional to join a vibrant and inclusive academic community known for innovation, student success, and equity in education.
As a Professor, you will report to the Chair of the School and be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, applied-learning experiences for students. Your expertise will help shape future leaders in clinical research, particularly in understanding and applying industry regulations and quality assurance standards.
Program Responsibilities Include Teaching the Following Courses:
Clinical Trial Regulations
Introduction to Drug Development/Clinical Trials
Clinical Study Administration
Clinical Trial Design and Pharmacology
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Ethics
Introduction to Clinical Quality Assurance
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
Deliver courses using diverse methods (in-person, online, or hybrid formats) aligned with Seneca’s academic standards
Create a dynamic and effective learning environment by leveraging real-world experience and applied knowledge
Inform students about learning objectives and evaluation methods
Assess and provide feedback on student progress and academic achievement
Offer academic support, mentoring, and guidance throughout the learning journey
Academic Contribution:
Ensure alignment of course content with current industry standards, particularly related to ICH E6(R2), Part C Division 5 guidelines, Lean Six Sigma, QbD, CAPA plans, regulatory inspections, and ethics in clinical trials
Apply professional expertise in risk-based quality management and audit readiness
Participate in curriculum development, student advisement, and collaborative academic initiatives
Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field
Preferred: Master’s degree or postgraduate certificate in relevant discipline
Experience:
Minimum 1 year teaching or facilitating training at the post-secondary level or within the clinical/healthcare sector
At least 3 years of industry experience in clinical trials, research monitoring, regulatory affairs, or QA/QC roles
Demonstrated knowledge of CAPA systems, change management, fraud/misconduct handling, and regulatory inspection processes
Skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, and research skills
Familiarity with teaching best practices and adult learning principles
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
Ability to work effectively with diverse student and staff populations
