Facility Operator

Description:

GFL Environmental Inc., a leading provider in waste management and environmental services, is currently hiring for the position of Facility Operator at its Prince George, BC location. This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for individuals who are safety-conscious, hardworking, and capable of performing moderately labor-intensive tasks in a warehouse setting.

As a Facility Operator, you will be responsible for safely handling, consolidating, and processing both hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received at the facility. These include items such as used oil, antifreeze, aerosol cans, and filters. A key focus of this role is to ensure materials are recycled efficiently and in accordance with operational and environmental safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process incoming waste materials safely and efficiently

• Operate machinery and equipment including forklifts and loaders

• Load and unload trucks and containers

• Verify incoming materials meet required acceptance protocols

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation and hazard assessments

• Promote a safety-first culture across the facility

• Assist with general shop clean-up and maintenance

• Deliver excellent internal and external customer service

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience with forklifts, loaders, or skid steers is a strong asset

• Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working on hard surfaces for long periods

• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail in completing paperwork

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license is preferred

• Must have reliable transportation

Work Schedule:

• Permanent, Full-time

• Monday to Friday

• 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
