Facility Operator

Description:

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring a Facility Operator for its on-site operations in Kelowna, British Columbia. This full-time permanent position is ideal for a dedicated, safety-conscious individual with a strong work ethic and willingness to take on moderately labor-intensive tasks in a warehouse and industrial setting. The operator will be responsible for handling, consolidating, and processing various hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials, such as used oils, aerosols, and filters.

The Facility Operator plays a vital role in supporting GFL’s waste management and recycling operations. The position requires careful adherence to environmental and safety protocols, while working collaboratively in a team-based environment. The operator will also use machinery such as forklifts and loaders and must be able to work efficiently and independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely process incoming waste in accordance with facility protocols.

• Assist in loading and unloading trucks and containers.

• Verify that all incoming waste materials meet acceptance criteria.

• Operate various processing machinery and equipment as required.

• Complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.

• Perform job hazard assessments and ensure safety procedures are always followed.

• Contribute to facility cleanliness and perform general maintenance duties.

• Provide excellent customer service to both internal teams and external clients.

• Promote and participate in the safety-first culture of GFL.

• Execute miscellaneous operational tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation to the Kelowna facility.

• Physically fit and able to lift over 50 lbs and stand for long periods on concrete flooring.

• Strong communication and documentation skills for accurate form completion.

• Able to carry out repetitive labor-intensive tasks with consistency.

• Basic planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to function effectively in both independent and team-based roles.

• Forklift and loader operation experience preferred (training provided if needed).

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
