Facility Manager

 

Description:

The Facility Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, dimensioning, procurement, installation, and maintenance of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and associated equipment for the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project. This position is vital for the smooth operation of tunneling activities and will involve working closely with the Tunnel Construction Manager to ensure effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with project stakeholders to develop detailed plans for the installation and operation of the TBM and associated facilities

  • Assessing spatial requirements and ensuring the facilities are dimensioned adequately for equipment and personnel

  • Identifying and evaluating suitable vendors and suppliers for TBM and associated equipment

  • Managing procurement processes in line with project guidelines and budget

  • Preparing and negotiating contracts and agreements with vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials

  • Overseeing the installation of TBM and associated equipment in accordance with project specifications and safety standards

  • Coordinating with construction teams to integrate facilities into the project site while meeting schedules and milestones

  • Conducting quality inspections to ensure proper installation and functionality of equipment

  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules for TBM and associated facilities

  • Coordinating maintenance activities and preparing progress reports with internal teams and external service providers

  • Responding promptly to equipment failures and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to facility management and equipment operation

  • Implementing quality control programs, safety protocols, and conducting regular safety audits to identify and mitigate risks associated with tunneling operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in acquiring and maintaining equipment for heavy civil infrastructure projects

  • Proven experience in facility management, preferably within construction or infrastructure sectors

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Familiarity with tunneling operations and equipment, especially Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards

  • Proficiency in construction documentation management

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with document control software (Project and Mind Maps, AutoCAD, Solidworks, 3DS Max)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues

  • Excellent verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
